Overview

Rwanda is a country of focus for the Self-Regulation initiative of Global Actions on Harmful Drinking.

Self-Regulation: In collaboration with local partners and the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), ICAP has disseminated the EASA Guide & Alcohol Module in Rwanda. We are working closely with beverage alcohol producers there to: build consensus about the need for self-regulation and codes that are customized for each market; offer training to industry members, trade associations, advertising agencies, regulatory bodies, and the media; and provide monitoring as deemed useful by local stakeholders. As a part of this effort, we have identified contacts in regional operating companies as well as regional trade associations, including Bralirwa Breweries, and are currently conducting local briefings.

We will report progress regularly, so please visit this page again soon for ongoing updates on our efforts.
