Overview

Belarus is a country of focus for the Noncommercial Alcohol initiative of Global Actions on Harmful Drinking.

Noncommercial Alcohol: The focus of our work in Belarus (as in all 10 countries that are part of this initiative) is to measure the extent and nature of noncommercial alcohol production and consumption, help set the agenda for interventions at national and regional levels, and launch a program of action to reduce problems.

After developing a generic measurement instrument, we are now working with local researchers to adapt the instrument for local use and implement a pilot project. Target dates for data gathering are April through July, 2010.

We will report progress regularly, so please visit this page again soon for ongoing updates on our efforts.
